I am not sure what’s going on for the past week I have been getting the shakes, like I am low. I check my BG’s and I it’s at 89. I have never felt low at 89 before until now. I always felt low at anything below 70 not 89. I am not sure what’s going on and I don’t have an Endo appointment until next month…If anyone reads this please let me know what this could be or if I should worry…
HI Cherise! The main reason that people can feel LOW at 89 is if their blood sugars have been high constantly (like above 250 for a long time). Since I don’t think this is the case for you, just one other idea:
You can also feel low when your blood sugar is dropping quickly. So if you’ve eaten I higher carb meal or are correcting your blood sugar, or for any reason, you blood sugar might drop quickly that can cause a low.
If you don’t get many responses here, write it as a discussion question-- I think more people see if that way. Has it happened more that once?
Could be a number of things. I’m T2, my target range is 90-110 fasting, below 130 postprandial, but I will often feel when I drop below 90. The highest I’ve ever measured was in the 170’s (fasting at time of diagnosis, and in the 1-1.5 hour range when I’ve really overdone it)… so the “up in the 250’s” doesn’t necessarily apply.
Other things, like dehydration or electrolyte imbalance, can also cause shakiness and be mistaken for low blood glucose levels.
