Fiasp not working :(

You might need more of it than you would with NovoRapid/Novolog or Humalog. I find especially in the morning, it is not as effective at killing the dawn phenomenon unless I take more of it. I usually need a unit for coffee which I’m not sure I would need with NovoRapid. However, if I just take more I can eat things I would never dream of for breakfast, like bagels, without a spike.

Welcome to TuD, @Crit!

You didn’t mention how much time you allow between dosing and eating. Prebolus time plays a significant role with any meal-time insulin performance. Do you take your insulin just before you eat? Or maybe you allow a fixed amount of time, like 15 minutes to elapse.

Many of us have found that eating when the blood sugar levels are dropping from the first effects of a meal dose gives us the best chance of eliminating the after meal BG spike. A continuous glucose monitor provides great visibility for this but you could do an experiment with fingersticks to discover when your glucose is actually falling after a meal shot. Some people require more prebolus time for their morning meal than for later in the day.

Please let us know how this develops for you. Your experience can then inform and benefit us, too. Good luck!
