Finesse Insulin Patch Pen

Hi
Has anyone seen or used this? It like a cross between a pump and a pen. My 12 year saw this and said this is what she would like. She is not into pumps , and is off put by the Insulin pens. This looks like a good thing. Its very small stays on for 3 days , is not electrical, and can be used to bolus for meals with Novolog or humalog. You squeeze 2 buttons on the side to dispense a bolus of Insulin. I cant find out if its available yet and how much.

As far as I’ve heard, it’s not yet released but still in trial stage and the patches that has been tried are only handmade prototypes and the patchpen is not yet mass produced. I did however hear the FDA approved it not long ago so it should be only a matter of time before it hits the market.

Yes! I actually got a free demo of this, it is a pump though. It a tubeless pump, like the OmniPod, but has buttons on the side to bolus with a remote device. Here is a link to their website, I hope this is what you were looking for! By the way, I liked it alot when I had it! It was not as obtrusive as the Pod, and the insulin part could be removed for taking a dip in the hot tub

Good Luck!

I can’t find any pictures or even a Web site for the company. Here are two stories discussing the FDA approval (earlier this year) of the device you’re asking about, here and here
And here is the Linked In page for the CEO of the Calibra Organization.
That’s about all I can find though…
So it sounds like the user would still do a basal/bolus therapy that required at least an 1 insulin shot per day of a basal insulin (Lantus/Levemir)? And then they would bolus with this new device?

I think the company needs funding. It fills a nice niche between MDI and pumping.
