Hello - I just experienced my first “Sensor Failed” message on my dexcom. I was wearing a new sensor yesterday on a plane for 5 hours and then in the middle of the night - Alarm! Sensor Failed! Can a plane ride have any impact on the sensor? I’m so glad I brought a back up with me. Will Decom replace it since it was brand new and did not work? Thanks for your help!
I sincerely doubt! I think you just had a faulty sensor. I’ve had two that failed, one that failed from the beginning, turned out the filament was missing and the second I wore for 2.5 days and all of the sudden it stopped working.
PS. call Dexcom and ask about replacing it. I think they do. They did replace the first sensor and the second one I didn’t call and request a replacement.
Sneetch - Dexcom has replaced all of my sensors that failed in the first three or four days of use. I have used Dex for a few months and have logged thirty or forty thousand air miles without incident. You probably just had a bad sensor. Allen
Agree with Allen’s post. Just a coincidence that it failed on the flight. I’ve had several failures over the last 16 months and Dexcom has always replaced them when I’ve called. They’ve also replaced sensors that weren’t able to work their way out of a Sensor Error #1 problem.
Thank you for the info - Dexcom is sending me a replacement.
Did you try a restart? Had one sensor failure for no apparent reason after 3 days, and on the second restart, it booted again fine and I went 10 days altogether on that sensor.
Yeah…no luck…just failed again.
