Follow me in the Colorado Trail Race (480 mile self supported mountain bike race) next monday

In case you've ever thought of trying a long adventure in the mountains here's a good one!

On Monday August 1, 6:30 am I will be riding the Colorado Trail Race starting near Denver and finishing Near Durango CO. It is self supported which means you carry all your stuff and can buy stuff at the few towns that you go through but with no outside support or food caches. Much of the trail is at high elevations above 10-12000 ft with a high pt of 13200ft.

We will be carrying GPS trackers so you can follow us on the Internet as we go. I hope to be at the front of the pack and to stay out of the rain as much as possible! I also hope I don't run out of food at any point of the race.

Here is the tracker page http://trackleaders.com/ctr

And here another page with information on the race. http://www.climbingdreams.net/ctr/

By the way I have Type 1 diabetes (for 16 yrs). My blog site is http://livethinline.blogspot.com/

Pass this along to anyone interested in doing this sort of thing!

Good luck! Go for it!

Wow! That looks awesome! Have a great race! The elevation graph thing makes it look totally gonzo. I like the scenery. The guy who won in 4 days must be pretty astounding! I don’t know anything about that sort of event but it looks cool as hell!

The race was great! Many miles of beautiful trails. Lots of hike-a-bike. My feet are still numb. Flowers everywhere. 4th place out of 70 some that started. I put some pics and story on my blog above.

My next race–Vaportrail125. starts at 10pm with nearly 20000 ft of climbing.
