Though out the last 30 years I have been told that if I loose weight my T1 would go away. When I was a child I was told by someone that I may grow out of it. This last week a chiropractor told me that he could cure diabetes with some adjustments to my back. What have been some of the worst, funniest, saddest and craziest cures you have heard of?
There is a scientist in central florida working with lettuce to cure diabetes. This was in the news a few years back.
Ooh! Great idea for a thread! I used to work at a massage school, and one of the massage instructors said to me one day, “You know my friend got his retinas examined by an Amish doctor, who then prescribed him a combination of herbs to take, and it cured his diabetes!” I sat there and looked at him for a good 30 seconds, waiting for him to start laughing…and finally figured out that he was serious. I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying what I wanted to say, and just stuck with, “Well, I have Type 1, which is an autoimmune disease, so unless that Amish doctor could figure out how to rewire my immune system, I think I’d be out of luck.”
Sad really…Back about 47 years ago my mom & I were told if I took an Alfa Pill 2x a day my diabetes would go away. We so belived it for a year. The D never went anywhere and I finally gave up those pills…Even my mom agreed to it…
Why is it always Florida? The Chiropractor above is in Fl as well.
I tried the Alfa pills for joint pain for a while. Did not do much of anything.
Apperantly it was suppost to cure everything. LOL!
I wonder if it ever worked for anything!
I was recently told by my friend’s dad (a slim type II for 15+ years) that he cured his diabetes by eating local honey (It had to be LOCAL) and taking vitamins. Normally a great guy, and a scientist too, believe it or not. What I am worried about is if he thinks he has been “cured” he is not testing his BG. I really had to bite my tongue because I am sure that I would not last too long if I stopped the insulin and replaced it with HONEY. lol
People have suggested that I try:
- acupuncture
- a paste of honey and cinnamon
- honey with apple cider vinegar and water
- vitamins
and my favorite: - self control
Apple cider vinegar cures everything from cancer to hemmoroids–lol.

Carrot juice and coffee enemas - see Gerson Therapy, Well you don’t really want to see it, it is supposed to cure a myriad of diseases…well you know how it goes…It is supposed to cure cancer too but you don’t see on the website that the original Dr. Gerson died of cancer.
Oh, not sure about the cure, but could handle the sauna bit!

I’ve been working with a guy the past 5 years.
He swears up and down that he knows many diabetics who were cured by honey and chicken soup. They used to take shots, check their bg’s, now they don’t do those things anymore, they just eat honey and chicken soup.
Oh! Raw milk!
