I’m using my iPhone as a controller. I usually have it with me, but not always. What issues will I have if I temporarily go out of range for a few minutes, or maybe even a few hours?
A few minutes shouldn’t hurt. You might lose a read or two. A few hours you will lose everything while out of range.
Sometimes I forget to take my phone with me when I move about in the house but I pick up the signal quickly when I retrieve it. (Women’s clothes need more/better pockets!) But I always have it with me when
i go out–I feel safer and more confident being able to check in the CGM trends…
Since Dexcom ‘predicts’ your BG using an algorithm, would the accuracy decrease if you go out of range too long–since it wouldn’t have as much data to compare to?
it takes the dexcom a while after going back into range (when you’ve been out of range for a while) for you to get accurate readings again. at least this is what the tech support team at DEXCOM told me.
but i have gone out of range for 1/2 hour and the readings came back on just as soon as i picked it up again, and i had no accuracy problems at all.
