help ive done it all i work out everyday and eat perfect but cant loose weight!
What does eating perfectly consist of? The best way I know to lose pounds is to lower carbs. Less carbs=less insulin. With less carbs, calories still count. Unfortunately, it's near impossible to lose sufficient weight working out. Exercise is healthy & important, of course.
Thyroid problems can be at the root of inability to lose weight.
I tried nutrisystem and dropped forty pounds then i went to weight watchers and gained 20 back! now i eat really only air popped pocorn for a carb but all protien fruit and veggies :( my thyriod is ok
Glad you're thyroid's ok because such a pain when it's not.
How many carbs do you typically eat daily? Fruit is hard on diabetics & usually causes spikes. Fructose is the only sugar that's metabolized by the liver. Not as healthy as we've been led to believe. Are you eating starchy veggies?
i usually eat apples strawberries. every now and then bananas but i no those are high in carbs.. i eat tomatoes lettuce spinach green beans plain non fat greek yogurt grilled chicken breast is usually my diet:/ i also do spin class like five times a week!
About how many carbs?
I can eat small amounts of berries without a problem. Other fruits send me soaring.
Exercise is great & important, but you can't really exercise pounds off.
Do you eat red meat or fish? Can sure understand getting bored with such a limited diet. Lots of lower carb veggies if you like them--avocados, turnips, mushrooms, asparagus, radishes, spaghetti squash, anything in the cabbage family (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts), zucchini, cucumbers, etc.
yes i eat all those but not really red meat i like it all!! but its packs on.... so exersice wont help a diabetic loose weight right
Also depends on quantity, calories & carbs, of course.
If you're eating excess protein, that doesn't aid weight loss.
Exercise doesn't help anyone (diabetic or not) lose weight. It tones, great for the heart & circulation, builds muscles & ups metabolism some, but you can't exercise pounds off. Takes a ton to burn off calories. Increasing muscle masss increases insulin sensitivity, particularly important for T2s. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat.
Hi reesie - I have not ever struggled with weight, but have struggled with stomach issues in recent months and I have removed all grains from my diet and feel much better. I am going in for delayed stomach emptying test soon, as I have a hard time with large meals. In the meantime, eating smaller meals helps and limiting any calorie intake after 6:30pm or so, since gastroperisis tends to lead to highs during the night.
Also, I know it is more of a craze of late, but read up on the Paleo Diet. I have been using that as my base for eating and really works great. For workouts, I enjoy shorter workouts than spin, at high intensity, so LOVE crossfit. It is really challenging and always something new. See my blog below for a little bit about doing crossfit with diabetes.
