I was wondering if anyone has done the direct-to-consumer genetic testing and what your results were. I had mine done at 23andme (not a plug for them, other places do it but they are the least expensive). They test for several genes associated with Type 1 (and Type 2) diabetes. They show me to have an increased risk of T1, mostly due to a snp linked to my HLA type (big risk factor for autoimmunity and T1). But the great news for me is that my son and daughter also got tested and neither of them inherited this gene from me, so their risk of T1 is only slightly elevated. What a great thing to find out! Anyone else get this done or thinking about it?
