Good healer

I'm curious, has anyone been told they are a good healer despite diabetes?

Back in May I literally got a paper cut on my eye. I left it for a week until the pain was so unbearable that I knew something wasn't right. (I was suitably lectured, several times, by my eye doctor! Apparently ALL corneal abrasions require an immediate eye exam and antibiotic eye drops due to the risk of infection.) When I went in I had a severe corneal abrasion that looked on the verge of becoming infected, and my doctor was VERY worried. He told me I needed to come back and see him in a few days, and come in immediately if it seemed any worse With antibiotic eye drops and lubricating eye drops, a week and a bit later it was completely healed with no complications. He said my body was a good healer, and that when he'd first seen me, given the state my eye was in, it hadn't been half as inflamed as he would have expected. He also said that when he first saw me he'd worried about me over the weekend. You know it's bad when your doctor is worrying about you outside of work hours!

Yesterday I did a face plant while walking across the street and landed with virtually all my weight on one knee. It hurt so much I felt nauseated and dizzy afterward and wondered if I'd fractured something, and blood was seeping through my pants. By the time I got home half an hour later, it had already stopped bleeding, and I cleaned it and it and put some ice on it and went to bed. I decided I'd go to the clinic if I couldn't walk the next day—that's how much it hurt. The next day, it hurt a bit but wasn't swollen at all. Now, two days after falling, it's practically back to normal! My knee feels bruised if I press on it, but the cut has scabbed up and barely hurts, and there is no swelling whatsoever, although my knee does feel warmer than the other one. I can walk and run and kick with that leg with no problems. On Friday I was worried I might not be able to walk to the train station on Monday morning!

I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who seems to be an efficient healer despite diabetes (and not immaculate control, at that). I've said before that I feel like I have a super powerful immune system that is so bored it has time for autoimmunity and many allergies (I think I'm developing more ... *sigh*), and that this is evidence by me almost never getting sick and apparently being a really efficient healer.

First off, sorry if I grossed anyone out by the picture that I posted!!! Growing up I always noticed that it took me a LONG time to heal from something as small as a scratch. But recently I cut my hand (as seen in the picture above) with a Ginsu knife while I was attempting to cut chicken breast in half. The knife slipped it went through my skin, through my veins, and cut a part of my tendon in my hand. Luckily, somehow I missed the nerves in my hand which for that I’m truly lucky!!! Stitches were placed in my hand probably about 20 minutes after I cut my hand & remained in my hand for 10 days before being taken out. After I had my stitches taken out I was AMAZED how quick I healed. So it’s like I don’t heal quick when it’s something small but when it’s something major I heal like I’m suppose too.

Here is a picture, of what my hand looks like when my stitches were removed.

Ouch! My mom did a similar thing with an x-acto blade a few years ago and ended up with 10 stitches in her hand.

A few years ago my foot slipped and hit a floor vent at exactly the wrong force and angle and I got four stitches in my toe. When I had them removed my GP seemed impressed that the toe had healed so well. The doctor at emergency who did the stitches gave me a little talk about diabetes and foot injuries and said I needed to follow up with my GP rather than just getting the stitches removed at a clinic.
