Guardian 3 sensor placement

Please tell me how you manage to insert and properly manage to attach a minimed guardian 3 sensor on arm? I have never figured out how I can possibly do this unless I had someone else do it for me and that’s not an option.

I’m not sure this will be of any help, but for whatever it’s worth …

For me inserting the Guardian sensors on my arm was never that much of a problem. The problem was applying the over tape using only one hand. How did I do it? Slowly, and carefully.

The “big trick” for me was to use the back of a chair to roll my arm forward. I also never inserted on the back of my arm, strictly speaking. Instead, I inserted on the outside of my upper arms.

I continue to use this approach today when I insert my Dexcom G6 sensors. What makes inserting the G6 so much less of a hassle of course is that one doesn’t have to apply an overtape.

Applying the overtape :scream: evenly so that it doesn’t pull on your skin was always the biggest challenge with the Medtronic CGM for me since I have to do it without help from anyone else.

Thank you. Yes the tape will be a problem.

I would disassemble the sensors and push them in one handed manually.
This was always the best way to handle it for me. Unless they changed the setup recently.

I used a mirror to install the transmitter.

I’m on dexcom now and it’s much easier to install. Just stick it and press the button.

Yikes I don’t think I could insert manually. But thanks.

I think you must be having a rational day, John  I just want to say that this is good and well thought out answer. I don’t really have “a dog in this hunt” as I don’t think I could use the arm location for sensor placement as I am a side sleeper. I have enough trouble with compression lows as it is.

Anyway, John, good job.

Here is the official Medtronic video about how to do it

There are several others on YouTube by private individuals. Like you I have difficulty getting it done. I have to have help from my wife. She does a really good job.

Note: I am a Medtronic ambassador. My opinions are my own. They did not pay me to say nice things. OK, they sent me a shirt and a cup but even I am more expensive than that.

I attach the sensor to the back of my arm, standing in front of a mirror, it works really well for me
