Guardian 3 sensors

Medtronic only allows 1 replacement sensor per month. I know because when I called twice in the same month they told me that. No I haven’t tried my backside. Do you mean like above the buttock? I used to put infusionsets there. I might try that area to see if I can get better results. I also found that when I bolus 10 minutes before eating the sensors almost always read on the low side before it starts to realize that the sugar is rising.I find them more inaccurate on the low side. I have seen utube videos on the guardian3 and it sounds good. People were talking about how accurate they are and with no calibrations (except the first day I think). I will be glad when they get here!

Yes, Dee, I do mean above the buttock. And I would try to call Medtronic’s help line again the next time you have one that doesn’t last at least 5 days. They are supposed to go 6-7 days. And different people at Medtronic will tell you different things. I’ve gotten more than one a month when needed. I don’t always bolus 10 minutes before eating- check my bs, if it’s near normal or a little low, I don’t wait, or even start with some fast carbs because I tend to drop just at mealtime. When I’ve a a lower number, the sensor has a hard time catching up with my actual bs. Guardian 3- that’s with the 670 and 770G? I still have to calibrate 3 times a day.

Definitively call again

Don’t you lay on it when it is above your buttock? I find that they take a long time to catch up from a low or a high too. I usually calibrate about 3 x a day too. This current sensor I have wants me to calibrate it every 6 hours for some reason. It has 2 days left. I will definitely call the next time my sensor fails even if I already got 1 free one.

I just want to say that in my experience the Guardian 3 is worse than useless. I always have false highs and false lows then it is calibrate 3 times a day sensor updating then calibration not accepted. I call Medtronic and the rep says it is due to sensor placement or glucose fluctuation from too high to too low. I told him if my glucose never flucuated I would not be diabetic. I have had great luck with the Dexcom G6 I have to manualy enter my BG and no auto mode which is also a joke. but Dexcom G6 rocks and as soon as my 67G is out of warranty I am going to the X2 with Dexcom G6.
