Handicap Stickers

hello everyone. i have a friend that tells me that beeing diabetic allows us to get a hadicap sticker. how true is that?

unless you have a serious complication (like a leg amputation) I dont really think diabetes qualifies

For those with circumstances which would otherwise qualify them, of course. I cannot imagine requesting a sticker simply because I have Type 1.

As a diabetic, you are protected under the Americans With Disabilities Act. That will give you certain rights that your employer has to allow reasonable accommodations for you – they need to allow you to test at work. It doesn’t give you rights to receive Social Security disability payments or handicapped parking stickers. As the others said, you have to actually be physically disabled to receive that. I am physically disabled because of the neuropathy and have to use a walker to walk. I don’t have a sticker because I feel that if I can walk around a store to shop, I can walk from a parking space just like anyone else.

In the State of Mississippi one of the requirements is that you can not walk 300 feet without stopping to rest. i qualify not because of diabetes but Asthma and arthritius. Your physician has to fill the document out and his signature certifies you qualify under the guidlines.

thanks! that’s what i thought. even though i have diabetes, the Lord has blessed me to whre im still healthy enough to walk and run or what ever. So i was just curious. thanks again. i’m goin to go correct that person now! LOL!!

Wouldn’t it be better to park as far away as possible and enjoy the exercise? Maybe there should be diabetic parking spots far away … LOL (just kidding!)

Personally, I resent the idea that diabetes in any way might limit me or disable me. I’ not in denial … but I never stop trying to keep it in it’s cage.

I want a sticker that says “Super Positive Diabetic” or something.
