I hope everyone is having a wonderful and hopefully restful time surrounded by friends and family. I hope you are enjoying health, laughs and feeling the support you need in these sometimes tough-to-navigate days. Happy holidays! I’ve had this community, this family, on my mind even when surrounded by others at the physical table. I love this community and the support I know I can find when my Tresiba freezes, I’ve eaten too many sugar cookies or am simply up too late with grumpy digits.
Thank you for being here. Snow, late nights or sugar cookies… love and hugs,
Cynthia
Right back at you, Cynthia! ️
LOL. I, too, found myself thinking about our magnificent community while at the table with 10 other people on Christmas Day . . . but for a somewhat depressing reason. Somehow, the conversation turned to diet, and of course everyone was an instant expert. I’ve learned not to bite my tongue (it hurts too much) when people express the most outlandish fantasies as proven fact . . . and it’s a good thing, else it would be bloody today. But the point is that it made me even more grateful (if that’s possible) for this space and the caring, supportive people in it.
Happy Holidays to all.
I hope you are getting a few hours of calm from the busy med life!!!
Yes! Food! Ugh! Especially when the “naughty” foods come around…“and the wondrous eyes do appear”… will he eat that? Should she? Or the inevitable “skipped” bread basket technique! LOL! I hope you are having a splend(a)id holiday! xoxoxo
So… who’s going to break the ice and start showing off Christmas loot?
You!! Show us the goods! I got pjs and well, I guess these if they count as loot! Lol! Puppy got a "soon to be beheaded Gumbi!
I didn’t get anything for Christmas!
Me neither and that’s the way I like it. I’m delighted, however, that the winter solstice is behind us as the light returns!
Diabetics should always pack heat.
I hear you. I tell my daughters not to get me anything for Hanukkah or my birthday, as the last thing I need is more stuff.
Most of the time I feel that way, too… But I’m very happy that Santa brought me a thicker yoga mat, yoga socks, and yoga pants with a side pocket to hold a Dex receiver or iPhone!
That’s a dream sleigh full of goodies!
I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Quite a year for me with several awesome insurance victories, but the best “diabetes thing” I did was join this forum so I could learn from all the smart people here.
Looking forward to 2017, and continuing to kick the disease in the teeth!
Now, I just gotta figure out the right bolus amount for a bottle of champagne.
Cheers, blessings, and love!
What a lovely new year cheer!
I will join @Eric2 with it - he wrote up my feelings much better than I could or would have.
This year has not been good to us, since my kid was diagnosed in it. But I also think the best “diabetes thing” I did was join this forum. Thanks so much to all of you for your kindness, your compassion, and your willingness to share what you know.
Thanks also for the great humor. It may seem like a small thing. But it is not - for me.
May the next year be sweet as an apple dipped in honey for all of us - yet without impact on anyone’s BG.
I didn’t bolus for the champange
BG is 5.4 (97) and looking steady - so i win this round Mr. Diabetes.
We had a street party for NYE, lots of delicious off limit goodies, I indulged but was careful not to over-indulge. Strangely it got a bit chilly just when the fireworks started on TV, and the party fizzled out.
Loved the Sydney and London fireworks, did see Berlin too.
Happy and safe New Year to everyone.
