I forgot my Dexcom 7+ was in my swimsuit top and it died after I got it wet. The screen is blank. Anyone know if it can be revived. Right now, it is in a bowl of rice.
You might try the following product… I’ve never used it but read about it a while back
"Kensington K39723AM EVAP Water Rescue Kit for iPhone, iPad, Smartphones and Other Electronics "…think you can order from amazon…good luck
That just happened to me last week. I forgot I had my Dex clipped to the back of my shorts and although I took my pump off, I walked in my pool. The screen went blank and I tried the bag of rice and nothing worked. I had to get a new one. Sorry!
In addition to having it in rice, try to put it under/near dry heat.
Sometimes it takes a few days for devices like that to dry out, depending on how much water got in. My sister had a cell phone revived after 3 days.
My thoughts...
1. Get batteries out ASAP when electronics get wet because the current and a few shorts might hurt the electronics.
2. If I feel that I can take it apart easily and it was totally soaked in pool or salt water, I'd probably do so and soak it in distilled water to get rid of impurities.
3. I used to have radiant heat radiators with our heating system that used circulating hot water. It would take about 24 hrs on top of those to dry it out. The things were warm, but not hot to the touch. So maybe a heat pad would work.
Mine's a G4, so what I did might now work for yours, but... I accidentally washed mine in the pocket of my sweatpants, and of course it died. I put it in a jar of rice for almost 2 weeks, and that fixed it up! I kept checking and it still had condensation inside the screen for that long, but once condensation was mostly gone it started working again.
Good luck!
Remove back cover and if possible lay the bare PCB to dry it out in the sun.
These days all PCBs circuits are multilayered and soldered at nano scale, hard for water molecules to penetrate.
I suspect the Battery is cooked or short circuited. Replace the battery and dry the PCB out in Sun.
