Sanofi US and Actress Elizabeth Perkins Premiere Documentary
Diabetes Co-Stars Presents “Strength in Numbers”
Donation to Diabetes Hands Foundation Doubled When Documentary Reaches 10,000 Views

Bridgewater, New Jersey – May 6, 2013 – /PRNewswire/ Sanofi US and Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actress Elizabeth Perkins proudly premiered the Diabetes Co-Stars documentary, “Strength in Numbers,” at the American Diabetes Association Expo in Los Angeles, CA this past weekend. The film, produced by Elizabeth and her ‘co-star’ and husband Julio Macat, features her diabetes story as well as two other inspirational stories from the 2012 Diabetes Co-Stars casting call contest – best friends Amanda Bauer and Anne Casey from New York, and father-daughter duo Eugenio and Naiomi Rivera from Texas.

The pairs were selected because of their empowering stories of dedication and support, with Amanda and Anne giving back to their community by spearheading support groups for youth living with diabetes, and Eugenio and Naiomi guiding one another through their daily diabetes management. The documentary highlights their stories, in addition to Elizabeth and Julio’s, and can be viewed online at www.DiabetesCoStars.com.

As part of the program, Sanofi US is supporting the Diabetes Hands Foundation and its efforts to encourage an open dialogue around the realities of living with diabetes.

“We are so thankful to Sanofi US for their continued support in our mission to connect, engage, and empower people touched by diabetes,” said Manny Hernandez Co-Founder and President of Diabetes Hands Foundation. “You can make an even bigger impact by watching the documentary online.”

When “Strength in Numbers” reaches 10,000 online views, Sanofi US will double its initial donation for a total of $20,000.

Please take a moment to view the movie at DiabetesCostars.com and also welcome our very own movie star member Mandy Bauer who was highlighted in this film with her best friend Anne Casey.

I watched this yesterday

Awesome, Marie!!

We need everyone to watch it and share it. Passing 10,000 views shouldn't be hard if everyone in the community takes the 15 minutes it lasts to watch it. PLUS, it's beautifully done and carries a super-important message.

I saw the video about Elizabeth Perkins. Is that the video people need to watch?

Agree completely, Manny. It's very inspiring and worth watching just for its own sake.

Wow, great video! I love the story of the girl helping her dad, the fierce soldier, kick ■■■. I hate the people having to go to the nurse's office to test. I never did that. Testing in the kitchen, ha ha... I have to wonder about Elizabeth Perkins' choice of exercise shoes though...

Great video! However, I found it interesting that the daughter was wearing an omnipod in the video sponsored by Lantus :) Maybe Dad uses it?

There's an interesting article today on diabetesmine with an interview of Elizabeth Perkins: http://www.diabetesmine.com/2013/05/actress-with-type-1-co-stars-in-new-diabetes-documentary.html#more-74825.

I also enjoyed the video, glad it will help get that $20,000.
