Help for Missouri Diabetics

Missouri Diabetics need your help. The medical storehouse there as well as the hospital have been demolished. Do you have any extra supplies, still in packaging, that you can donate?

The JDRF Ozarks Development Coordinator will receive ANY diabetic supplies and get them to the T1’s in Joplin MO IMMEDIATELY. Look around your house. Do you have an extra box of anything or two that you can ship to her?

Reminders:

  1. Insulin MUST BE SHIPPED COLD!
  2. EVERYTHING must be in original SEALED packaging.

Some things to check for are: test strips, alcohol swabs, pen needles, ketone strips, any pump site or reservoirs, lancing devices/lancets, syringes, or anything else you can think of. You might even call your Endo and see if they have some samples that are close to expiration that they might throw in.

Here is the shipping address:

Jennifer Conter-Jones
Development Coordinator, JDRF Ozarks

Rogersville, MO 65742

do they need old pumps?

I have got one unopened Levemir Flex pen and 6 boxes of Novolin 70/30 I am going to send today. Overnight shipment.

Jennifer, I have a three-months’ supply to unopened Humolog insulin I can send! I use it in my pump and they send really more than I need. I’ll try to find a cold carrier for the unopened package. I also have an out-of-warranty pump I’ll be happy to send, if needed.

Cheers, Margaret

Actually, I’m not Jennifer – I just saw this message posted elsewhere and wanted to pass it along.

But who cares?? You are WONDERFUL for chipping in. Thank you, thank you, Margaret. xo

Rusty, you’re a dear! Thanks for your enthusiastic help. xo

It’s a great idea, Lisa, but I don’t believe the FDA would allow them to accept used diabetic supplies.

I think.

You could always ask them and see. Hold on – let me look up the number for the JDRF Ozarks for you…Got it. Try Jennifer at either (417) 569-0606 or jcotner-jones@jdrf.org.

Let us know what she says!

Wonderful, Mandy! Blessings to you for all you’re doing.

Thanks Jan!

a friend with type 1 died . i have boxes of stuff! will send today!!!

Jan, I’ve just Fed Ex’d Overnight a Styrofoam boxful of insulin, syringes, lancets & alcohol swabs, plus a box of ketone strips to Jennifer at the DJRF Ozarks address. I also sent her the tracking number. It was very pricey so I hope it reaches those who need it! (I had also made a donation this morning to PCUSA for the Ozarks Disaster Relief, not thinking about the shipment I would be making!!).
God bless everyone, Margaret

My heart goes out to you about your friend, Lisa. I’m so sorry.

We can say that you’re doing this in his/her memory. Thanks for your big heart!
