Hi all, I was just informed that my Animas is out of warranty when I was originally told it was under warranty for another month. So, my research in to alternatives has been accelerated!
I would love to hear what users find are the pros and cons of the Accu-Check system. And if anyone came from the Ping, what is a + or - vs. that pump. I have only used the Ping, for about 8 yrs I think, and am not interested in the Medtronic. I like the remote aspect, but the Ping does not allow for temp basal and full functionality remotely.
Before I jump ship, I would appreciate any and all input! TIA
Not sure I can shed a lot of light on this since I have only used Accu-Chek and its predecessor, Disetronic.
Just like the Animas, the Combo is IPX8 compliant (essentially waterproof). If you like the remote idea, you will like this system. About the only thing you cannot do remotely is prime the tubing/infusion set during a cartridge/site change.
If you have a Windows compatible PC, there is a SW package that lets you download all the various reports.
There is also a 315 unit cartridge. I think that is a bit larger than the Animas. I routinely get 9 - 10 days per cartridge.
I am a bit perplexed on why Accu-Chek chose 3, AAA batteries for the meter, rather than 3, AA batteries. I think the battery life is too short. I also am not too happy that the case is missing a pocket to carry extra "stuff" (batteries, battery removal tool, etc).
I think I am testing "smarter" with this new system and I know I am being more consistent in chenging my infusion sets because of the reminders the meter has.
