Help please to restart

I am on the dex for a week trial. I will get one asap! the rep said it will end in 7 days...the dex will shut down. however, i am aware most people wear for 10-12 days. i can keep it for the week, but she cannot tell me to proceed. please share the steps to keep it on!

thanks in advance for any help!

when you start to get a “start new sensor soon” message, you know that the sensor will end soon. This will be on the 7th day and basically at any point now you can, click OK to get to the main menu. Scroll all the way to the bottom to Stop Sensor. Press OK. Then go to the menu and towards the top will be a Start Sensor option. Click OK and you should be good to go! The Start Sensor option isn’t shown while a sensor is working. You have to Stop the sensor for the option to start a new one to appear. If this doesn’t help, many people should be able to help! (Do you love the Dexcom, or what?!)

Just go to the main menu when it shuts down and highlight “start sensor.” Or you can “stop sensor” and then “start sensor” if it hasn’t already shut down on you. It has no idea that it’s not a new sensor you are starting. You still have to wait the 2 hours for it to warm up, but then it just goes on like it was before!

Many users restart their sensor after 7 days. It is considered off-label use and Dexcom cannot recommend it, especially because they recently got cited by the FDA for not properly reporting issues that involved off-label use.

That said, you can restart a sensor after it stops at the end of 7 days. After the sensor has stopped, bring up the menu (where you enter BG). Choose Start Sensor. After two hours you will be prompted to add two startup BGs. Many users find that the readings are better than the ones they receive when starting a new sensor.

Definitely, my reading were more accurate the second week!

thanks to everyone for the great advice. I am somewhat ready to changet the tape, but I would rather just wear it for a few more days. My insurance will not happen for a few week, I imagine.
