I Googled for the article and found it. Here’s the link. The diabetes quote is towards the end of the article. Here’s what she said:

I am certainly not a fan of Heide Fleisse. But if I use CDC data to research the subject:

Cost of Diabetes to US Economy each year: $327 Billion.

Cost of HIV to US Economy each year: $36.4 Billion.

Several comparisons between diabetes and AIDS were also made in this thread:

I thought some of those comments were interesting.

I personally think they may find the cure for HIV/AIDS before they find one for Type 1 diabetes.
