I test around 3-4 times/day. Once fasting in am, then alternating at a meal - pre and post prandial (2 hours), and then before I go to bed.
You are not kidding about the bathroom! I think with the Byetta though - Iām not making enough frequent trips to the bathroom enough! Ugh!
Yea, Byetta will do that.
I believe it was Dr. Andersonās research at the U of Kentucky, in the 70s that sorted out the differences between soluble and insoluble fibers and their roles in health and diseases. The focus in the clinic he directed at the VA was on controlling diabetes through diet rather than drugs. He wrote two books, one on the high fiber diet, with an emphasis on oat bran (the soluble fiber he researched) and another on the same type diet geared to diabetes. Theyāre out of print but I found and ordered a copy of the one on diabetes and will post some copies from it when I find it. Some of his studies were quite long term and, as noted above, many patients learned to keep their diabetes under control with diet and get off of insulin altogether.
At the time he was more actively researching (heās emeritus now), the focus was on cholesterol as a big evil in health which shows in his writing. I donāt know how his views have changed over the years and am checking it out. However, given how beneficial the diet he used was for diabetes, Iām wondering why it didnāt become the standard and get further researched to keep it up to date as more was learned about diet and diabetes. Asj in other areas of research, I think his work my have been sidelined by the shift in focus to suppressing symptoms with drugs rather than focusing on improving health.
Hello
Avocados are great and you can use them with a lot of lean meats. Flax seed bread ( per on slice 5 carbs and 4 grams of fiber). flax seed ground, you can mix it in with fat free yogurt. Almond butter, taste great and goes great with chicken. For protein I like eating soy cheese and tofu.
