Hopefully no pain for 6 months

I have been battling with the medical people over care for the entire summer…my PCP has changed, my CDE has changed, my dietican has changed, and I don’t deal well with change. My meds have been changed around, and that caused a stir. Now put all that stress with my family stress, AND then add PAIN to it, and it spells, “TOO MUCH” of a bad thing!

So, I did my A1C two weeks ago, it was under 6 barely, and I decided that I couldn’t take the pain any longer. I was acting like a B*tch to my family, I was unhappy, I was ready to chop my own legs off at the knee. I didn’t care anymore. The answer was going to be a cortisone injection and lots of exercise (which I haven’t been able to be consistent about because of the arthritis) and lots of fluids. I know, I know, it makes your blood sugars go up, but so does no exercise and eating your way through the pain.
I use this method as a VERY LAST resort because I know the consequences. But there is NO cure for arthritis…and the constant barrage of Ibprofen isn’t cutting it any better. So tomorrow, I will have one injection, not two and live with the one leg that isn’t as painful. I will be able to bike, swim and do the exercises, I will have an attitude that even I want to be with. I’l watch my numbers like a hawk, as will my PCP, Ortho doc, and CDE.

I hate it, but you have to do what you have to do…I"m ready for some cures for some of these maladies.
But until then, I will do what needs to be done to keep me as healthy as I can.

Good thoughts sent your way! Hang in there!

Let me start by saying I am a type 2 with a partial replacement right knee(1 yr old) and I have scheduled partial replacment for 12-10-10. I just had my second Synvisc 1 shot in the left knee. I have Asthma, degenerative disc L3, L4, L5, HBP
Last week I went from MDI Lantus and Novolog to Victoza. I am sooooo pleased it is unreal. I have stopped my Lantus injections all together. I lost 2lbs the first week(I think this is low from what I have read).
I started this with an A1C of 5.7(7-21-10) - 5.5(March 21,2010) and 5.9(Nov 09). I am using a little Novolog to adjust when above 125 before I eat.
There is light at the end of the tunnel and it isn’t the 3am train.
