How long can a type 1 diabetic go without insulin

And it depends what they’re trying to look at…

I disconnected from my pump and went from 70-248 in one hour. Is this indicative of how insulin dependent I am or is this a normal type 1 reaction?

This just indicates your insulin dependence and sensitivity and your circumstances at the time of when you disconnected. It varies for all of us. There is no "normal." Some will rise faster than others, and it can be influenced by all sorts of inputs - stress, weather, activity, food, medications, etc. For example, I was recently on a visit to Hong Kong where I spent most of my day walking around outside in 100 degree heat. I had to shut my pump off completely for 3 hours to keep from going low.

What's important is to have a good sense of what inputs create what results so you can manage accordingly.

Hi!

If you have backup MDI supplies, can you take Lantus/Levimir the day before the MRI and run your pump at 0%/-100% basal for the next 24 hours? You would still bolus with the pump, but, when you're disconnected from the pump for the MRI, you do not need to worry about compensating for missed basal.
