My insurance allows for endo visits every 3 months, and that’s how often my endo wants to see me. I wonder: is that just a coincidence?
I visit my endo every 3 to 4 months too. The only time I have visited more frequent is during pregnancy and right after. Thank goodness!

I go to my Endo q. 3-4 months, spend $35.00 ea. time for nothing. Very few times do I get a question answered. I have been trying to get my In-scale changed. No soap. When that scale was developed, I just came off the pump, weighed 136 #s. that was 3 years ago in June. Now I weigh 118#s and still on the same scale and with freg. lows from 48 - 68. No changes. I am Type 2 Insulin dependent. Insulin is Lantus 10 U nightly and Novolog per scale starting with correction : 1/2 U for every 15 over 140. Carb ratio: Breakfast 1/2 U for every 3 grams, Lunch- 1/2U for every 5 grams, and Dinner and snack 1/2 U for every5 grams. No Correction factor factor is used for snacks.I minus 1/2 U for between 70 and 90 BG. No action for 40 to70’s.
Many primary physician took very good care of me before I started. Now I want to change back to my Primary.
Every 3 months. And I really like my endo. She listens. Like my cholesterol is a little high (208 this time). I told her why I don’t want to go back on a statin and she said o.k. let’s try this. And was telling me the link between hypothyroidism and high cholesterol. She said my thyroid is a little enlarged and will do thyroid anitibodies next time. My primary care would just say here is a new pill for you now take it before you die of a stroke or heart attack.
Every 3 months…and she is a stickler…you have to have your pump and your meters downloaded, with the print outs…your bloodwork which has to be done within 7 days of your visit, your list of refills and when your next appointments are with the other 4 Dr.'s she requires you to see… but she is a good Dr…she knows her “stuff”… Mark
Never seen an Endo. There is one endo between Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, Ut. I live almost exactly between the two. So in five yeas since dx, I’ve worked almost exclusively with one PA CDE - and no one else. It teaches you self-responsibility, and self management. And my state of health ROCKS!
4 times a year, but we see the CDE 3 of those times, and the endo once. The office also responds to phone calls and emails within 24 hours at no additional charge.
I see my Endo to much and even with problems nothing is done. I know better being inHealth Care for over 46 years. Still, how do you tell your endo you can not afford her and you want to go back to your PCP who is capable and knowledge of Diabetes.
I see my endo and primary doctors 4 times a year or more, as needed! My endo is reachable by email or Answering Service, as ist my Primary. Weekends are not as easy but the ER can reach my doctors, if needed.
Because I was eligible for Medicare years ago, my private insurance made me take it. Now I have to go every three months whether I want to or not! I guess it’s a good thing, keeps me on track, even though I could get my A1c every three months without seeing the doctor and paying a copay. I’d prefer to go every six months.
3-5 times a year. Im in the process of switching endos and I have no clue how often they expect to see me
I went every four months for a while (2007-2009) back when I had the good insurance and an AWESOME endocrinologist- he was type I himself- but here recently, it’s been over a year.
I go every 3 months like clockwork. Also see my CDE every month or every other month.
quarterly, unless I’m having problems and he usually “works” me in the schedule
Interesting. I've been seeing and endo every four months since I was diagnosed--14 years ago. Am getting tired of too many appointments as well and am considering just letting my PCP get my prescriptions and calling it a day. Have some reservations, though. I'm 77 years old and this is the time of one's diabetic life when complications begin rearing their ugly heads. Still. I pretty much know what I'm doing at this point. Probably more than my PCP and unfortunately the hospital I was in last Nov--from the dietician to the pharmacist to the "hospitalist" doctor who didn't know squat.
every 3 months unless i need to fix a glitch in my pump.
Every 3 months. And I have to take my meter with me so they can download it all. The endo's office has my log in for my pumpdownloads if they want it. But the endo really just uses my meter downloads. They are a stickler, don't keep your prescriptions, then you will encounter major issues getting your meds refilled. Hehe. I wish he'd cut the visits back to every 6 months. Grrrr for the last 9 out of 12 months my A1c has been incredible.
Have you asked him to cut back your visits to every 6 months? Or how about trying every 4 months? My endo and I have agreed that it doesn't make sense for me to go in more than every 6 months. I've had type 1 for 36 years, my A1c's are good, and I test often. There just isn't that much to talk about at appointments. I have always felt that if I needed her more often that she would be there for me. But right now, every 6 months is good enough.
I am 60 years old and my understanding is that I will be required by Medicare to see her every 3 months. Seems a waste of the taxpayer's money, but that's another post for another day.
As little was possible to keep my pump scrips active...once a year, usually, unless I need an equipment upgrade.
Seriously, I never go to an endo for help with my Type 1. They can tweak equipment, but they do don understand the day to day basics.
LOL heck I tweak my own rates. I'd be running 180 post meals if I listened to the CDE at the Endo. Overall I like the Endo, I just dont care much for the CDE, she's WAY to conservative for what is "acceptable".
