We are ready to try today! Any tips and tricks? My daughter is 11 years old!
Our omni clinical person Linda told me about a pediatric study done with 75% up front and 25% over two hours I think? We’re having cornbread stuffing, sweet potatoes ( my kid has celiac too). Our dessert will be probably two hour later, as we did our first gluten free pie crust today!
Tips and tricks? What evening testing should we expect?
My daughter is 4 and this will be our third THanksgiving with Diabetes - we basically test every couple of hours - try to control her portions and see if we can get her to run around - I do extend the bolus for dessert (her dinner eating is not consistent - so I bolus some before - some after - so I guess I am manually extending) I use 65% up front - the rest over 2 hours - that works for us with pizza.
sorry i didn't see this this morning but extended boluses really help i gave jacob a bolus for 50 carbs before he ate with a bs of 115, the ate dinner 110 carbs, after he ate we did 50 and 50% in a 1/2 hour, for dessert which was two hours later he was holding steady at 182 i did 60 and 40 % with 1 hour ext. he went out to rake leaves yeahh and came home at 5:15 bs 85! and pod change we will see how he does in an hour for dinner but i dont plan on doing any extra testing during the night lots of guess work on the carb counting but not bad i hope your day went well! the extended boluses work great with fatty meals or out for icecream the more fatty the meal the more you put out for later and longer time , of course if they are high to start you need more upfront hope that helps!
