I only converted to my long-lasting to pens because Tresiba isn’t available in vials.
With my short-lasting insulin shots being as small as 5 units per meal and as small as 1 or 2 units per correction shots, I think there would be a good amount of wastage if I switched to pens and did the official “waste 1 or 2 units priming” every single time.
A syringe once fell out of my pocket while I was lecturing to a group of students. I quickly bent over and swooped it up as though it was the most natural thing in the world to do, and as far as I know no one noticed.
We will always have people who are prone to addiction and police state tactics have never done anything but harm these people.
Basically whats going on in the US right now is genocide, they are killing off the people with the addiction gene or genes by continuing the failed policies that caused the overdose problem in the first place. It was not unforeseen consequences , they knew what would happen. They knew heroin and fentinal would come in to fill the void. They knew they would be making chronic pain sufferers lives hell. Too much profit in drug war for those psychos and their prison industrial complex to stop.
The evidence shows that over 90% of so-called opioid overdose deaths are the result of polydrug poisoning… The news media and television could be saving countless lives every day if they were running non-stop headlines about the dangers of drug mixing, but they are not. The drug war debate is over, its more harm then good. Restricting access to clean needles has never been proven to reduce overdose rates but its highly proven to spread HIV and Hep C. I will be more then happy to debate this further as it is a forgone conclusion I will win the debate.
I know that going along with the police state mentality drug war crap that has spilled over into my diabetes treatment isn’t helping anything.
If state law says show ID for syringes what ever, but screw “Walgreens law” they want more people getting HIV and Hep C so they will be standing in line at the pharmacy counter buying expensive drugs to treat it.
In the spirit of fair play I have to include that I went to treatment and worked at a treatment facility for addiction for years and went to at least a thousand 12 step meetings. I know whats really going on.

When I went on insulin, my doc gave me a pen sample. I have never used vial and syringe, but hate the waste priming pen needle. My eyesight is not good and I fear not getting proper dosage if I need to read lines on a syringe. I do like being able to dial in a specific number of units using pens and the accuracy that affords me, . . . but, with the cost of insulin, wasting 2 units with each injection, 3-4 times a day adds up quickly with wasted insulin and wasted money.
In my experience this is definitely true of Walgreens stores in Brevard County… They often refuse to sell syringes even though it is legal for anyone to buy them, especially to younger people and anyone they don’t like the looks of… I’ve witnessed this type of refusal with a friend (female, 30s), then watched another friend (male, around 60, relatively average looking) go in and successfully buy them without a script no problem–although both were heroin users. I have also heard from people that they have felt profiled/ judged/discriminated against when trying to fill certain types of prescription medications at walgreens, including one friend who has been on Adderall for over 20 years being treated like a “junkie” and being accused by pharmacy staff of selling her pills–without any reason. Publix is also known for this crap and some walmart pharmacies or staff as well.
Anyone refusing to sell needles in any case is contributing directly to the spread of disease, blood infections, instances of endocarditis, “cotton fever” etc. They should be the ones charged with a crime–it should be illegal to refuse the sale of a legal medical/hygiene accessory to anyone for any reason! In fact, needles should be considered OTC items–even if stores would prefer to restrict access for security reasons, they sold be treated as OTC, i. e. condoms… The deliberate promoting of health hazards is a far worse crime than attempting to be a clean drug user!
I say boycott then bastards. Walgreens sucks!!
