I suspect this topic has been covered before, but my initial search didn’t produce anything obvious. So, with apologies …
I’m interested in hearing from former Humalog pumpers who have switched to Apidra (or at least tried it out). I’ve been using Humalog ever since the rapids first became available, and I’m curious to try something different.
Any comments about advantages or disadvantages of one over the other?
I was on humalog for as long as I can remember, Bit when I started the omnipod, my endo switched me to Apidra, she said it does better it pumps then Humalog, I have been using aprida now for 3 years, and my A1C is awesome, maybe its because I started the pump or I was switched to the apidra.
I’m like used, used Humalog since it came out. I started pumping in 2007 and about six months ago switched to Apidra because I was having a lot of extreme highs that would not come down with corrections.
I find little difference between Humalog and Apidra. Apidra is cheaper (at least here in Canada) which I like, and I also notice it gives me better readings after meals, and my blood sugars do seem more stable overall—but it’s hard to tell if that’s actually from the insulin or just from me having better control now than I did six months ago.
Thanks, Jen! Interesting that we get it cheaper here in Canada. I think Apidra costs more in the States, but I could be wrong on that one. Anyway, I think I’ll give it a whirl.
Hope you’re doing well. Looks like our short-lived Vancouver summer is at an end … bleh! :-p
