Just about an hour ago, I paid my dentist a visit, as my wisdom tooth was already giving me such trouble.
Can anyone say, “minor surgery”? Good thing my blood pressure, and most importantly, my glucose levels cooperated, (I hit 112 before my visit). Long story short, the tooth finally came out, after much screams and “bloodshed” (ha ha!). Even my spit has blood.
oh man… I had my wisdom teeth all out at once about 20 years ago. they were all impacted and starting to hurt… I just told the doc that I really didn’t want to be there for it. They knocked me out, knocked out the teeth and I went home with a bottle of percocet. Those were the days and it was a great way to spend a spring break!
Ouch, my sympathies. My roommate is currently at home suffering through the very same thing. It took them over an hour to get that thing out (she didn’t want to get knocked out, so she really got to enjoy the whole experience) and now she has to exist on a diet of baby food for a few days, because she can’t chew anything. Hope you’re fine.

Well, same thing here, wide awake! the doctor had to kill the nerve first, for her to be able to pluck that bastard molar out! And that is immortally painful! But since I trusted my dentist, I knew she could do it. Then again, I did not tell her that I am diabetic. Well, she told me that my bleeding was fine. Good thing for Flanax (Naproxen soduum). Thanks!
so sorry, I know all too well how “special” tooth pain is! I had an implant done last year, and here is a discussion about soft food ideas we had…oh, you should always let your dentist know you are diabetic.
my bottom two required surgery, and much to the surprise of the anesthesiologist, I was not unconscious. So today I have dream-like memories of the hammer and pliers and the um, smells, of surgery.
The percocet and the bugs bunny marathon was a fun way to spend the weekend, tho.
Jovanni - the bleeding stops eventually. get well soon.
Arghh! I had two teeth abscesses in November, with two root canals, and two posts/crowns put in. I totally understand. To me, the pain was worse than childbirth! Hope you are feeling better soon!
In the Philippines, we have no idea of general anesthesia for impaction surgery… So you would need to have all the courage in the world…And I trusted my dentist, and she did a fantastic job!
Oh Jovanni,
I am so sorry. You will not find a bigger coward than me when it comes to the dentist. I can do anythng else but that Please keep up with the Percocet and wrap up in a big warm blankie. I want to be petted and coddled with any kind of tooth problem. And i hope you get a huge helping of the coddling and takeng care of until this is all healed. Can you just imagine if all of us were there to “help” you during this time? Either you would be laughing at us for falling over our own feet while trying to help with the pain or else you would be going nuts until we went home so you could have some peace and quiet. I am just trying to make you smile here Jovanni. So what I will do is just tell you that we all really sympathize with you. And I am sending you a huge box of comforting hugs. This is written on the side of the box OPEN BOX. PULL OUT ONE. WRAP IT AROUND YOU, PRN !!!.
Thanks, Sandy! Good thing, I was able to endure the dentist’s “killing-the-nerve” game. I think I can let go of the analgesics. Swear, I was screaming like a sissy! Well, it’s over now. (FYI, it’s my second impaction extraction…so I was a bit prepared this time…)
