I’m sitting in bed clearly not able to sleep, and guess why? Because I feel like I needa throw up. Every time I eat pizza, something goes wrong I guess cause later that night I always throw up… I haven’t but I think I’m gonna… I don’t know how to stop nausea…
and my bg is running high too… Not my night at all.
Easiest way to solve the problem is to give up pizza :-). Lot's of us have.
If you have any at home lemonade or other fizzy drink will help with nausea. Not eating pizza is the best bet, though.
Are you sure your gallbladder is okay?
I’ve had to give up pizza too. It makes my sugars run high overnight.
Pizza is a baddie for most of us, and the high bg could make you nauseous.
I guess the best option is not eating it at all, but you could always try eating a smaller amount (which, of course, is probably harder to do than giving it up entirely).
Kelsey, pizza is a problem because the carbs in the crust are hard to determine (and usually a lot of carbs) and the cheese and toppings can be greasy, which keeps the bg high for hours afterward. I rarely have it, never more than 2 slices, and I usally am sorry I did afterward. take a look at some of the discussions on how to bolus for pizza
https://forum.tudiabetes.org/topic/search?q=pizza+bolus
a lot of people have success with a combo bolus
hope you're feeling better today!
Pizza is an "evil" food for me. It makes me spike something crazy and with those high BGs come nausea, headaches, etc. You know the drill.
Best way to prevent the problem is just avoid pizza. I have found that I can have a slice (and I mean a single slice) of THIN CRUST pizza. It has 22g of carbs and as long as I don't do more than one slice and use an extended bolus, I am ok. But if I go over that, I'm in for a roller coaster evening. Just not worth it.
Hi Kelsey. Another possibility is Celiac Disease. It is autoimmune and often occurs in people with Type 1 diabetes (me, for instance). If you have an appointment with a doctor anytime soon, you could ask for a test. If you have Celiac, the answer is to go gluten free.
I am wondering if it might be gastroparesis

having d is a risk factor. I don't have it but many here do

Hi Kelsey. I think you should contact your doctor about this problem. It is interfering with your diabetes, your life... Good luck.
I used to have a ton of stomach problems. I had the same issue as you. As soon as I ate anything, even a cracker, I didn't feel well. Not fun at all. My solution is a bit drastic; I went vegan. It allowed me to go completely off all acid reducing medications and I've never felt better. Though that would be my ultimate recommendation, you might want to look into the individual ingredients in what you are eating and see if you might be sensitive or allergic to anything (like soy, dairy, or gluten). For me, giving up processed foods helped too. I'd say the best bet is just to go to a doctor that specializes in digestion and get tested for all those things people said.
I had to give up the pizza it makes my sugar very high and I always feel sick to my stomach too . my mom makes me pizza on this lavash bread and it is very good I still take a little extra insulin for all the fat from the cheese here is the link

Please have your gallbladder checked out. This sounds all too familiar to me.
- Don’t eat pizza.
- You may be lactose intolerant
I agree celiac is a possiblity, but so is gastroparesis, which is a very common problem with diabetics, your stomach just doesnt empty ver fast, and literally EVERYTHING you eat, makes you feel like you are going to throw up.
Kelsey it could very well be you have picked up some stomach virus. I had one, and literally it was so bad they thought I had Crohn's disease because for six months straight, same problems you are describing, it finally went away though. I would certainly check into both celiac as well as gastroparesis. Both very common problems with diabetics.
I agree with that completely, my husband had been sick with GI distress his entire life until a few years ago he finally figured out he was gluten sensitive and has been gluten free ever since, he dropped a lot of weight and feels the best he has ever felt. Problem is now that he has been off gluten, even a molecule (I am not kidding) can make him feel like crap.
I hope you are alright, Kelsey. If you take Metformin along it insulin, that can cause some lactose intolerance. The fat and carbs in pizza are a bad one for me. A slice of pizza will take about 3.5 units to correct. I hate taking mega doses of insulin at a time, but when running high, a correction dose may be in order. Many have given good advice, sip fizzy drinks, clear is preferred, a small dose of Pepto-Bismal, or something similar may calm your stomach. See your doctor, let him/her know what is going on and figure it out. You will get this under control. You may have to give up or limit pizza, but the salad that goes with it is good stuff!
Be well, Kelsey.
