I hope doing this blog will help me and some other people who struggle with Diabetes. Anyway, here’s my story.
I’m type 1,since age 4. I am 20 now and my A1c is 13%
Terrible right?
I don’t know what it is. I haven’t been able to get it together on my own. I don’t wanna die. I know what I need to do but Its hard for me to do it for some reason. I have some discipline…clearly not enough. I don’t react to my diabetes until I feel symptoms. I’m only getting older and things need to change. I’m here in hopes of being around people like me who understand the diabetes struggle and not just getting sympathy or hearing, “oh, my granny has that”.
I will also be seeing a diabetic psychologist so hopefully that helps too.
Pray for me yall!
Hi Vonnie, this site has lots of people in your shoes and we get what life is like with diabetes. I agree your A1c can improve and you can do it. As for dozing off, I do that when my bg spikes too quickly and too high which may happen to you a lot with your A1c. I have to say I wouldn't feel good day in, day out with an A1c that high, so I hope you look forward to feeling a lot better.
Vonnie, I live close to you so I wanted to respond. First of all I am so sorry you are enduring this pain. I hope you find the truth, which is that we all have the capacity to pull ourselves forward. My prayer will be that you are able to pull yourself out of this funk. I believe you can and will do it.
My thought is that you will get better, lets let today be the start of a new day. Now I know you are saying of he doesn't knwo how tough things are. Well I do. See I refused to see a doctor for over 20 years and finally I got back on track. Vonnie let me knwo how I can help
I hope the psychologist helps!! I wasn't @ 13% however I was all over the place but got a pump and things fell into place. The whole thing revolves around testing and keeping track of stuff and, if you know that, you have to do it. If you do it, you'll succeed which is sort of a small reward but may help inspire you. I got inspired by weird stuff but feeling good always feels good if that makes sense. If you are hanging out here, that's the place to be. Keep working at it and you'll get it in place.
I am really working on it now that I’m getting older and taking on more responsibility. I feel like I wont be able to function properly if I’m always having to deal with symptoms of a high blood sugar. I believe it’ll get better too. Thanks for your encouragement guys!
Vonnie, i think my A1c was worse a couple of months ago, it´s more about seeing that its necessary you take care to live longer and be healthy it´s a bit of hard work but im sure you can do it and you can count on all of us here in TuD, Im 26 and in october ill have 20 years with the D. Somewhere along the way i kinna lost intrest and control of it and now i know i should take care to have more life quality, and as my endo said maybe if i didnt take messures i wouldnt be able to fix it in a future cause it would be to late.
The first step in fixing what's wrong is to recognize that something IS wrong. You've done that.
The second step is simply WANTING to fix it, i.e., being determined to. Clearly you are.
IMHOP, finding a psychologist is a big step in the right direction. Twice in my life I've looked in the mirror and said, "Clearly you can't fix this alone, 'cause you've tried and it doesn't work. Go find a professional who knows how." I've done it twice and it worked both times. And that's really the bottom line, with diabetes, depression, or anything else -- you have to do what works.
You have a lot of people here who support you and who care. Please stay in contact and let us know how you're doing!
