I love my endo... anyone else?

Deja vu, sort of. I never had an endo in the first place, but I am thrilled with my PCP. I am in charge and he's fine with that. He's smart, he listens, he participates, he makes suggestions and just generally treats me like a partner and not a subordinate.

This discussion makes me very happy that my endo doesn't like medications. I can't see him prescribing statins just because someone's diabetic. (On the other hand, if you have diabetes and borderline need them, then he might agree to giving them if you argue with him.)

I've heard him tell patients that, even if their total is over 200, as long as their ratio is good (I forget if it's 1:2 or 1:3 LDL to HDL--pretty sure it's 1:2), then he's happy. After all, the ratio does matter more than the absolute numbers--the LDL helps clear the HDL.

Unfortunately, I don't fit any 'good' ratio. I go back and forth about them....
