I have finally had enough with Walgreens getting my G6 sensors and transmitters. I’m on Medicare (USA) and a BCBS supplement. Please bare with me, I need as up to date info as I can get.
Every three months I go through the nightmare of getting it approved. Once approved, I can get more than one monthly supply without some kind of unknown delay or other garbage they dream up to say. I’ve had enough.
When I was working I used Edgepark medical and the last 6 months I was with them I managed to get 2 months of supplies. They were horrible and the list of reasons is too long to put here.
My question to the community is simple, what DME provider (that delivers to me directly) do you use and you really like? I have heard that some providers will deliver the full three month supply at once rather than making you wait for each individual months supply. That would be ideal, then I’d only have to deal with it 4 times a year instead of every month. Any suggestions? I need to get away from Walgreens. They were ok in the beginning and went down hill rapidly.
I am on Medicare + BCBS supplement so mine is 100% covered and comes through CCS Medical and they are awesome. They will only give you 1 month supply by month, each month but are totally proactive getting paperwork from doctor’s office. It is an online process so it takes me about 30 seconds each month to confirm my last and next doctor visit + confirm that I want my regular order of 3 sensors or 3 sensors + transmitter if needed.
You can sign up here if you want, I have my supplies delivered to my office, have been with them for a few years and never once have they been late or given me grief over anything. The only thing I dislike that started recently is that the confirmation process says you may be billed up to I think it is about $60. This only started recently when they upgraded their website and I think is to cover themselves for patients without supplements that do have a copay. I was worried the first time that happened but have never received a bill and my medicare records show that CCS is being payed properly and on time.
I have been on an insulin pump for over 20 years. My current supplier, Wellstart 1-800-978-7599 is the best by far. They call monthly to check on my supplies and then send a 90 day supply in a very timely fashion.
I’ve been using Edwards for mail order Dexcom refills. They send a 90 day refill that includes 1 transmitter and 9 sensors. I am on Medicare too with a supplement and Edwards has never caused any delays or issues.

I get my 90-day G6 supplies from US Med and have been quite happy with them. They typically contact me to say: do you need more.
Two comments:
I think that all of the suppliers that deliver 90- day stockpiles actually bill Medicare every 30 days … but it sure makes it nice to get a 90-day stockpile.
It is also probably worth a call to your BCBS supplement to make sure that the supplier that you select is on THEIR list as an approved provider.
Under Medicare, the CGM supplies will be DME which is actually a good thing because DME is covered under Part B. The supplements cover part or all of the co pay so if you have the right supplement your co pay for Dexcom goes to zero. For anything pharmacy such as Omnipod you will have to buy a Part D pharmacy plan…some of the Part D plans cover pods with a large co pay. The whole set up is causing me to consider going away from Omnipod and getting a tubed pump…zero co pay being a pretty big inducement to make the switch.
Walgreens was a disaster for me, also. I have Medicare plus United Healthcare/ AARP supplement. I get all Dexcom G6 supplies, 3 month supply, from US Med. They are great.
I’m on Medicare + AARP United Healthcare and my (90 days of) G6 supplies come from Pinnacle Medical Solutions. I’ve been very happy with their service.
I normally like my local Walgreens, but for Dexcom supplies, they usually did not keep any in stock and often were slow to order and fulfill. So I switched to Advanced Diabetic Supply. There was a moderate amount of paperwork, but the change went smoothly and they have been excellent about shipping on time. Basically all problems regarding Dexcom fulfillment went away when I moved to ADS.
Not sure if Costco only does prescription coverage, but I get mine prescription from Costco and they also do mail delivery. Not sure if your insurance has the possibility of prescription vs DME.
Does anyone get both Dex and insulin pump supplies from the same mail order place? I want both if possible. I have Dex G6 and Tandem 2x pump.
I am so sorry to hear that CSS is only doing 30 day supply. I was all set to go with them. Phooey. 12 times a year to order these supplies is just too much.
