I Needed Help – Letting Others Help with Diabetes Self-Care

Awaken by the horrible sound of the alarm clock. I reach over for my glucometer. As I squeeze my recently poked ring finger my own blood splatters all over my face and the wall in what looked like a scene from some B-rated horror movie. “What a way to start the day” I say to myself under my breath. Careful to not wake up my fiance next to me or the pups below my feet. 56 mg/dl the small lighted screen answers back in a matter-of-factly manner. I let out a loud audible sigh and I hear a voice ask, “What’s wrong?”.
