I-Port Advance

Anybody using the i-Port Advance, or other similar things? I have to wait a while before I can get a pump, so I’m looking into other alternatives right now that can reduce my injections. (I have a slight case of needlephobia :frowning: )

We got these for my son in our waiting time before the pump. They worked horribly. We used two of them and both times his blood sugars soared and you could see the inuslin pooling up. I don’t think it was operator error since it’s pretty straight forward. I wish I still had them to send to you to try. I think they’re $100/box of 10 and not covered by insurance. I would call and see if they would send you a sample. My guess is they won’t but worth a try.

I used it for about a month before I received my pump. I didn’t have any problems with it except for bent cannula once. I really liked not having to worry about injecting myself for small amounts. You do have an hour wait between injecting a long acting insulin like Levemir and a short acting insulin if you do the Levemir first. The wait time is shorter in reverse.

I just received the free trial yesterday of the i-Port and inserted it this morning. Easy and painless. Good timing, I have several social events to go to this weekend and with the device in my abdomen (I usually bolus in my thighs) I’ll have an easier time bolusing for meals and snacks.
