So I'm curious who else saw this mobile personal healthcare company announce their really small glucometer that attaches to an android or iPhone and syncs results to an app? Its from a company called iHealth. I actually just pre-ordered one because I'm fascinated and I like the concept. I just want to give it a whirl! They actually have another glucometer that is a wireless version.
So who's used a iHealth glucometer and what do you think about it? Surprisingly, there's not one bit of discussion or feedback anywhere on this site regarding iHealth. The other thing that strikes me as interesting is the cost of the test strips: $12.50/50 strips. (you have to use their strips) That's pretty cheap IMO. Looked at it... If it was sold in stores I would go get it today. I am thinking about ordering it. I always wait and read reviews before ordering online. Get your stuff in the stores and I make impulse buys all the time.
I loved my one touch verio IQ, however I recently switched phones to the Galaxy S5 and it doesn't sync with my phone. I found the glooko app in the google play store. It said you needed to get a cable and would work with various meters. I didn't see my meter listed, but I saw it had other one touch meters listed. So I downloaded it bought the cable, it doesn't work but I didn't think it would. I checked the list and found that it worked with the one touch mini which I have two of. But it won't sync all of the readings because it times out. LOL.
So I am looking for a program that will sync my readings, would be great if I could share them also.
I tried it with an Android phone and, at least on my phone, the app was terrible. It would crash multiple times every time I tried to use it. The interface also felt clunky. I decided I stick with my good old stand alone meter. I just mailed the iHealth meter a few days ago and I'm awaiting my refund.
And it's not the smallest meter. The True2Go is just as small and I have several for backup. I get cheap strips on Amazon.
I ordered one because the size of a meter matters to me! Although I had high hopes (and it seems to be accurate which is the most important thing) I went back to using my Bayer Contour Next USB. The main reason was that I had to open the app on my Android first. That extra step made it annoying to me and once they fix that then I will probably be more happy to use it. Other than that, I found it to be nicely priced, accurate according to my other meter, and a good size.
I wish i had seen this forum before ordering one. It is defective and the company has no customer service. No way to get repair or refund. The company is fraudulent. I wonder if they even have FDA approval!
