I’m O- and they really like to see me (anyone can take that type) but most of the time my iron is too low and they turn me away for that!!
A- and yes, heard of it…and of course A’s more likely.
I’m A+
I’m A-
O negative and universal donor but can’t donate because I was diagnosed when beef and pork insulins were used and I think I probably took those. If people with diabetes have only taken the newer human insulins and have good glycemic control, then they may donate blood.
AB+ Here and dx’ed type 1 at age 52. Freak of nature or what>LOL
if you’ve ever had surgery you were typed even if you didnt know it. Last I checked it wasnt all that expensive and it’s free if you donate blood
A- and my great aunt who is also type 1 is AB-
That reminds me of the story;
An old man was preparing his will and wanted to donate all his organs for transplant patients.
His son said; Pop ,why would you want to do that… your heart is bad ,your lungs don’t function right, your kidneys are shot and well nothing works on you . Who would want your eyes you can’t see?
The old man replied; Yes, but I just want someone else to know how I feel!
I’m O+
AB+ diagnosed at age 18 w/ type 1…only one in my family
That would be something if there was a pattern, but there doesn’t appear to be…at least not what I can tell anyway.
that’s a good story Joe,I always dreamed of taking the pancreases of the non-diabetic patients so they can feel what I feel
oh!
that’s a rare one to see!
your aunt’s blood type I mean.
Im O- :DD
my moma said i can still donate blood.(lol im sorry but this made me laugh xD i sound like a little girl again XDD) Although in this little town you have to be 16 … and im only 15 right now lol
but my stepdad is a diabetic and a fireman he still donates blood every year.
My mother is AB- and a blood donor (or was - she’s 78 now). The blood service said they didn’t want her to give regularly because they rarely used the blood (as it’s so rare!), but that they needed her to be capable of giving it at a moment’s notice if they did have a case come in - if she’d given regularly then she might not have been in a position to give again when they really needed it.
A+
they actually add glucose to the blood bag so the red blood cells live longer
I’m A-
Do you donate? The blood banks would love you.(lol vampires!) Your blood can be used in anyone.
Really, I have never heard of this before. But I am O+, and Type 1
