Inflamed Infusion site

Hey Guys,
I just changed my infusion set, and noticed there’s an area a little bigger than a quarter that is red where the canula was inserted. I only had this one in for three days. I noticed yesterday it was a little tender to the touch–like a bruise. So today when the reservoir ran out I changed it. It’s still red and hurts like a bruise when I push on it. I wouldn’t say anything, except I have never yet had this happen. Just wondering how many of you have experienced this, and is it anything to be concerned about, or will it go away on it’s own?
Peace,
Bobby

I have it happen almost all the time, goes away pretty quick, I also have reactions to the glue, so I have been using tegaderm and skin-tac and its better

Bobby, this happens to me all the time. It’s always a red flag to me when it gets “tender to the touch”. I test more often, and if things start trending up, I change it. I change at least every other day anyway, but I’ve been pumping way longer than you, and I have a lot of scar tissue. Make sure you’re rotating sites well, and not putting it in a site that is within a square inch of where you’ve been in the past month. Put some neosporin on the old red site for faster healing. Funny, you’ve been on my mind today. Peace back to you!

I get that on my sometimes, but it only seems to happen when i use my thigh. Mine always seems to go away faster when i move around a lot and get blood flowing to the the area around the insertion site. I don’t think its anything to worry about, just another annoying discomfort.

I always keep the sites rotated well. I also have not found it necessary to use any of the Skin-Tac or anything as the infusion sets adhere well to my tummy (after I shave). I will admit that sometimes I will leave a set in for 6 days if the absorption is good, and it never gets sore or itchy. I have had them get sore before, but none that have ever been inflamed like this one is. I’m not freaking out or anything, just wonder why all the sudden out of the blue this one site gets weird on me. It’s just out of character, that’s all.

I would only be concerned if its getting bigger. That could indicate an infection. If it stays the same or fades relatively quickly, its probably just a bruise.

I get them once in awhile, generally when the canulla has gone too deep or I’ve had a good bump on the site.
