Insulin gone bad

I was out sick yesterday :frowning:
Day before I chgd out my set about 4:30 pm, went to dinner, bolused, ate good, not much enemy food. so, during the night my bg kept going up & up & I’d bolus, but at 5:30 a.m., when I get up for work, I was sick, sick, sick, heart pounding, nauseated, & my bg went up to 500+, finally threw up (yuck!). I got my flexpen & did a shot, chgd out set, still same, repeated, got on ph w/Medtronic, no change, all while sitting at 400+. I had done shots, but
being conservative b/c of chging sets & had “bolused on my pump” & was
waiting for my pump to start doing its
job. Finally, at 5p.m., after a day of misery, chgd out once more, this time w/new vial of insulin - it worked  The
one I was using was not expired, & I had
just opened it 2 weeks ago. Could it have gone bad???

It could have been bad, one way to tell is if the clear insulin is clear and not looking as though it has bits in it! Or the cloudy one does not look bitty and lumpy.

The other thing could be that you were ill anyway and that your sugars reacted. And as you were bolusing throughout the night and then did the flex pen thing, that you finally had enough insulin in you to deal with the problem!

Try doing what you do with the pump again and see what happens.

trya different set. Yes ti is difficult to pull and restart but thatis what I would do. If you can get it under control it was the set. If nto it was the insulin.
