Insulin pump and glucose sensors

I was thinking as I was looking at my glucose sensor along with my infusion set is it would be nice to incorporate the both together. Have the infusion set along with the sensor be together in one unit.

I suppose this has been thought of. Just not a fan of having a sensor in along with my infusion set connected also all the time. Just be nice to just insert one thing.

Sorry just rambling.

I agree completely, only problem is the insertion set is good for 3-4 days and the sensor in some cases can last as long as 3 weeks. Not sure you would get your moneys' worth out of the sensor if you had to change it every 3-4 days.

Don't know I do know at one point in time Dexcom and Insulet were in bed with each other to make a dual pump/cgm system. Problem was they got divorced a while ago and no more word has come out on other possible suitors. Dexcom has now hooked up with Animas for the Vibe. Which isn't a dual purpose insertion set, but it is a pump/cgm that can be controlled by the same piece of hardware. That seems to be the biggest problem for many carrying around too many devices.
One company that has an interesting concept is Pancreum (www.pancreum.com) which has a wedge system that incorporates cgm sensor, insulin pod, and glucagon pod. It is early in its' development stages but it would seem smart to have each wedge be removable independently and refillable etc. While it won't really recreate a working pancreas, many of the new developments are certainly promising.
One of the problems with a six day omnipod is the reservoir is only 200 units so you are limited to 33.3 units a day - for some that is plenty but for others it is just too little.

It’s not just money. My sensors seem to be the best from Day 2 or 3 to Day 10 or so. I would hate to pull out sensors at Day 3 when they are just starting to be accurate.
