I discovered a different kind of pump today. The V-Go insulin pump. It is a pump for adults with type 2 people, if they need to use insulin. I had not heard of that pump…very interesting. Have any of you used this? Here is a link if you want to take a look.
Have heard of it, but haven’t used it. This is best for people who forget to take their basal AND can have one preset basal rate all day. It can add convenience for boluses, too. Wouldn’t help me, but I’m sure it may be useful for some people.
Hallo
I like to now if the pump is good to use 2typs of insulin or the night one to tak separate?
A pump only uses rapid acting insulin. It delivers a basal dose every few minutes for 24 hours a day (this is the same thing that long acting insulin does), and then when you eat or need to correct a high blood sugar you delivery a bolus dose (a large dose of several units) of the rapid insulin.
I’m type 2 diabetes im using rapid insulin befor food 3-4 units and Lantus at Nigth
Very pleased with my v go pump…very reassuring to have it right with me and after three weeks…I am in tune with my Dexcom G4 and v go 20. It works best on my outer arms…trade arms each day. It allows for a flexible meal lifestyle. Am T2, 76 yr old…happy day!
MDI (Multiple daily injections) for both Type 1 and Type 2 typically is with two types of insulin, like you are using. Rapid before meals and a long-acting insulin, like Lantus, as a basal insulin once (like you take at night) or twice a day. i am also Type 2 and was taking Lantus or Levemir plus a rapid insulin before meals.
I am currently using a pump. With the pump, I only use rapid insulin. Instead of taking the long-acting insulin, the pump gives me small amounts of the rapid insulin throughout the day and night, as @Jen explained. I have been very happy with the results using a pump. I have good control most of the time and far fewer hypoglycemic episodes. It was hard to get a pump approved by my insurance, but I’m glad I did.
I know a few people who are type 2, and they are using a pump and a CGM. They have excellent control.
