Insulin Pump

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago with insulin resistant diabetes, now I am Type II but am moving closer to Type I, would it be better for me since I can’t seem to get my BS controlled with pills and injections to go on the pump. My injections are 29cc once per day. I started at 9cc about 6 months ago, seems like everytime I go to the Doc, she adds one or 2 ccs to the amount I inject. Just a general question, something I may want to discuss with my Doc at a later date. Thanks for any feedback.

Beth:

That is tough to say, your amount of insulin is relatively low, so a pump may not be the most practical thing. On the other hand, pump therapy is wonderful and it certainly would not hurt to discuss it with your doctor. I really suggest you do so. I always suggest people get to a pump ASAP when they can. If you get to one you will love it.

Please explain “I am Type II but am moving closer to Type I”.

The pump for us is easier. My son (13) is Type 1 for 7 years - pumping for nearly 1,5 years. Being type 1 and in puberty his total regime is around 70 - 80 units novorapid per day (basals is 36 units).
