Ok I can’t complain but I am curious to know why all of a sudden my basil has dropped from 1.30 every hour to 1.10 every hour and my blood sugars are suddenly runiing the way there suppose to . As you can see my last a1c was a 8.5 so that pretty much suns up the way my sugars usually run between like 130 and 350 which for the last year pretty much hAs been my reality. And now for the last 2 weeks my blood sugars are actuall 79 Dinner and yesterday I stayed between 80 and 140 all day . Have to admit I’ve been feeling great ( just to think this is how non diabetics feel all the time and still find a way to be miserable with there life ) anyway this could be to good to be true or is my body just working better with the insulin . And I actually dropped 6 lbs
You must be doing an excellent job!
Well enjoy the new found health. diabetes is full of surprises.
Who knows?
Honestly, your basal rate needs are going to fluctuate forever. I’ve been diabetic 19 years. I don’t think I’ve ever had basal rates (when on injections, or now on my pump) that were the same more than 2 months before I had to change something.
You may need less insulin because you are in a better range. I find that when in a better range I need less basal to keep me there, but if I’m high I stay high unless I give more than normally needed for boluses AND increase my basals.
No matter what the cause, your improved control is great - congrats!
Also weight loss - amazing as I lost weight how much I had to readjust the basals and the overall insulin needs would change too, less weight equaled less insulin needs overall for me. And just as Kari said, I too tend to need less if I stay in range but watch out if I run high for extended time period, then it seems as if I cannot get enough insulin in to make a difference! Keep up the great work!
