Insulin smell ;)

I checked my insulin pen accuracy today by dispensing 20 units into the cap to check it reaches top of the cap indicator. It passed the test but then I dropped the cap all over my hand and now I can’t get the smell of insulin out lol :joy: such a gross smell.

There is an old topic on this subject, kind of funny.
I think it smells like bandaids. Or creasote the kind on wooden telephone poles.

Phenol is the substance that gives insulin its smell, the compound helps to stabilize it and it also acts as both an antiseptic and disinfectant in the liquid.

Phenol is also found in a lot of other products like bandaids. Creosote which is a wood preservative often used on utility poles is a form of phenol.

It smells like bandaids. I’ve never smelled a telephone pole before.

So, your not manufacturing an insulin perfume, Amerlia3? Darn.
