Not sure I can trust this 100% because a couple of years ago when I decided I wanted to start using a CGM my insurance said they were going to cover it. So I contacted Edgepark and they said it was covered and shipped my a new Dexcom and a box of sensors. Then less than a month later contacted me again wanting to send me more sensors. I think they wanted to send me more than one box and looking back on it I should have let them but I told them no one box at a time was fine.
Well before they could send me a third box they found out that NO my insurance wasnt going to cover it. So after that any time that I wanted sensors I had to pay for them 100%. Out of pocket kind of sucks.
But over several years now I am addicted to using them.
So…I got a call from the pharmacy that I have been purchasing my Omnipods from. They said my insurance is now covering them. I told them about Edgepark saying the same ting a few years back and that they had never sent me a bill so I basically got the Dex itself for free. He said they couldnt bill me afterwards but that they had verified everything so it was all good. So I ordered one box and will now start getting one box monthly.
Being self pay I have stretched each sensor as far as possible. I usually get about 21 to 24 days out of each sensor and once got 30 days. I am soooooo thrilled I dont have to do that any more! Since I am on social security (disability) income it was all I could do just to scrape the money together to buy each box. But now I have a zero copay so things couldnt be better.
I dont think I am going to immediately start changing them after 7 days ( well I may never do that ) I might as well get a cushion in place just in case they come back and say they arent going to cover them. But at least for now things look much much much better!
