His initial line made my head snap a bit, because after 41+ years of T1D, I have pushed this thought way into the background (this may not be verbatim):

“Type 1 Diabetes is a terminal disease …”

JDRF certainly has a lot of pots on the fire right now. I don’t always agree with the way they operate, but I do think these are exciting times, that are placing us on the cusp of multiple dramatic breakthroughs.

Nice interview with the JDRF chief and good summary of the JDRF’s current initiatives on behalf of T1Ds. I was bemused with the interviewer’s Wilford Brimley pronunciation of “dia-beet-us!” Is that a regional thing?

Yes, it is a regional thing. The interviewer’s wife and son both have T1D, so I am sure he’s heard the dia-beet-eeze enough for a lifetime.
