4.0-6.0% A1c is considered normal A1c range by most publications that I have read.

Im at 6.5. that is just fine with me

I know mine isn’t good, 7.2 would love it to be 6…I feel like the reach is to far for me… I haven’t ins, and need a change on Insulins,. and I am at a loss…so plug, plug along,…,

A loaded question …I am living with D for 28 years and without complications …A1C below 7 has been a BIG challenge for me , however with today’s insulins,… my knowledge , what I learned here , I am below 7 …it also depends on one’s age , other diabetes related medical problems , what the norm for the individual should be .
North American A1C and the mmol ( in Canada ) equivalent gives the average 3 month BG …I believe the Brit /European labs use different standards …can someone elaborate ?

Well, the experts at the AACE suggest that doctors “Encourage patients to achieve glycemic levels as near normal as possible without inducing clinically significant hypoglycemia.” But in practice, you also need to balance that goals against your ability to lead a happy, healthy and satisfying life. In the end, this results in difference targets for every individual.

Thanks everyone for all your input!
My A1c is 6.3 My doctor said that is good… but I was wondering if a 5.5 would be a better one or is that too low? I have an appt. with my care team on the 28th of Jan. I can ask then but I am very curious by nature so I thought I would ask in here!
