I’m a type I on an Animus Pump. I’m an active person - I work out 3-4 times a week including cardio, spinning, lifting weights, running, softball, etc. I’m an active person, but over the last year, I have gained more than 15 pounds, and for the life of me can’t lose it!
Weight Watchers is not a food administered diet they choose for you - you choose your own foods! If there is any diet out there that acts more like a real world choice, I would think it’s Weight Watchers! They don’t choose my food, I choose my own food, but the food I do choose is points based, so depending on the calories, fat content, and fiber, it gives a food a specific point. If you choose hi-carb foods, you also choose higher points. Carbs = sugar = fat = weight.
Regardless, I have yet to find another relatively decent diet that would work for the “real world” instead of this packaged crap they claim will work miracles.
Thanks for the insight, I will check it out. Are you on a pump as well?
Lowering carbs & taking corresponding less insulin helps tremendously with weight loss. It’s a plan that works in the real world. Lower carb helps with the BG roller coaster. Smaller insulin doses are better absorbed. Smaller doses make for smaller miscalculations.
I’m having a really bad time gaining weight right now. I know I’m eating too many carbs but I loooove carbs. But even when I’m good it seems a constant battle just to maintain my weight. Sometimes I really hate Insulin.
I gained weight when my sugars weren’t controlled well and especially when they would spike. Too much insulin in your body is not good and makes you gain weight. The insulin that isn’t used sits around and in turn makes you gain weight, especially around your middle.
My advice is to eat little (under 80) grams of carbs a day, and protein at every meal. Don’t go out to eat more than once and only snack before 6. Also - to really give yourself a boost do cardio in the morning and weight resistance training at night.
The BEST advice I can give you is to keep a food diary. Literally everything you put in your mouth should go on this sheet/diary. Trust me you’ll be surprised at your habits, and its great to look back and work on appropriate changes.
Lastly consistency is key. Work out 5-6 days a week consistently, eat well consistently, test your sugars consistently.
