Will the Tu Diabetes forum remain ands is anyone responding or answering on this forum…….. I have gotten such good information from you members and the Beyond T 1 website does not look at all as friendly and information-providing as the Tu D one. What will happen to this one? I would stay on it but will all you members who are so generous with your time and knowledge?
I’m with you. As a T2 on a pump I’ve learned much from interacting with those with T1. Actually that goes well beyond my being on insulin. Both the Beyond T1 and 2 are not very good.
As you can see, the number of people posting here has dramatically dwindled. There is another forum that is very similar - please feel free to join us here: FUDiabetes (For Unlimited Diabetes!)
Yeah.. for reasons nobody seems to understand, shrouded in secrecy, they’re shutting down this forum. Which is sad… I’ve had conflicts with the admin here, and that’s all in the past. But when I was first diagnosed with t1 as a young adult this was my only source of wisdom and connection in the whole new scary world.
I’d welcome you all to join FUDiabetes
What can we do about it if anything?
I don’t know what to do to save TUD as it doesn’t belong to the members like FUD. I’ve been a member of both and Beyond T1&2 for some time. BTW FU stands for For Unlimited not something else, except occasionally ![]()
Diabetes Daily is pretty good, and covers a variety of topics:
Who does TUG belong to? Who makes the decisions about it?
While I dislike the name intensely, I see that many folks are checking it out. I probably will, too. But this is not an easy process for me. When I joined there were around 800 or a thousand members, I think. And I became an official Ambassador for the site, hosting several local gatherings of members, as well as dining with the founders, Manny and Andreina. This was the very first online community I became involved with. And the last several years have been full of personal illness and personal loss for me (including a couple old friends from here), so all this is just a mess to me. I haven’t bolted in horror precisely because of a few very dear friends right here who have been the essence of welcoming kindness and saving grace since the day I stumbled on the site, desperately looking for help and support in managing to “have a life” while juggling three chronic illnesses. And then there’s the simple fact that the last few years have been just plain hard for me physically and emotionally and as a result, I’m feeling just plain Old and Tired. Sigh. However, Onward is all there is. It is all there ever is. So we’ll see. Best regards to all.
There is a bunch of us that are both on this site and the FUDiabetes site for many years now. No, it’s not as busy, but that is because there was not as many people there. But a bunch are going there now, so it will have a lot of the same people you are used too. It is set up almost identical to this site so it will be very familiar to use.
Please check out FUDiabetes. I would love if this site had kept going, but FUDiabetes is a good site. The Beyond site just doesn’t seem as inviting or as easy to use.
It is not what you think, but FOR UNLIMITED DIABETICS.
I just set up accounts on both Beyond Type 1 and FUDiabetes. On Beyond
Type 1 within an hour I had received my first individual connection:
someone soliciting me to buy crypto currency. Nothing so notable on
FUDiabetes, it just looked very familiar.
Thank you, everyone here. I have been on this forum for over seven years and have done my best to learn and respectfully contribute when able. When the lights go out, I plan to take a hiatus and perhaps join FUDiabetes some time in the future. My diabetes has been under excellent control, especially since I hold myself to higher standards than those established by the medical community. My primary focus, which I have been working on, is the next step, proactive or reactive to heart failure. With all the advances in diabetes technology, maintaining good control is achievable for anyone determined to do so. However, the result is still heart failure, which is not addressed beyond a cursory look at cholesterol levels.
It has been a great ride. Thank you all, and I wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Bye for now.
I just signed on to FUDiabetes, but am finding it difficult to navigate.
ANY TIPS?
Hmm, not sure what you mean. It is pretty much the same layout for the things I do I guess. I am on a PC and I always just view the major general forum and am looking for current comments. Maybe be more specific what you are trying to do? If I can’t help, there are lots willing that can over there (and still here too).
I always start on this page, in case you have a different link.
Onc thing, there’s a probation period. If you post links it will be auto blocked. I think 3 times and you are suspended for a time.
It a good thing to weed out spammers. Once you have been using the forum a while you can post links
Lucky for me I never got suspended🤩
This link gives a good explanation. It works for DU as well but you are above the zero level here.
Thanks. How do you access newer, more recent posts? Most seem from 2017 and years past.
It’s not been as active as the Tu site. I expect there will be more activity now. People are more likely I think because it is/was a smaller group of regulars to maybe use old posts when adding something?
It will be more active though no matter what because there won’t be the other site. But it should list the latest post time on the right, So my first 9 are in hours listed, those are the newest posts! I think a majority are actually newer listings. But I would encourage you to write a new post if you want??? It’s just I bet a lot of people put posts are TU, so there will be more on FU now as time goes on.
Bravo. Even with excellent control for around a decade, a heart attack almost got me a few years ago. My family has a history of strokes, and I had often worried about that—but not a “plain old” heart attack. Silly me–LOL.
Also, Reddit T1D is good and active all day, every day.
