Come join us at FUDiabetes!

For those who like the format here at TUDiabetes and are sad it’s shutting down, please come join us at FUDiabetes (For Unlimited Diabetics ) - it’s been around awhile and has lots of great information and discussion. Same format, and all types of diabetics are welcome!

I second that and, as a semi-active member of both, suggest that people who like the TUD forum as is and aren’t on FUD already might care to sign up “just in case”. The balance is slightly different too; basically the same, but different.

John, What do you mean by the FUD balance is slightly different too?

I meant simply that they feel different to me. I joined TUD in early 2018, the welcome message came from Cynthia Rogers-Celt and the Diabetes Hands Foundation. That alone felt “corporate” and the forum has a “bigger” and therefore less personal feel than FUD.

I joined FUD at the start of 2019 and the welcome message, combined with the account activation link, was, “Welcome to FUDiabetes!” FUD is smaller, the original founders are mostly still there and often active. It is much more personal; more like what many people refer to as, “A family.”

I’d add that there is no right answer, neither is better, just different. The UIs are also very similar although they see to use different features of Discourse so it’s easy to use the other.

Thanks for expanding your comment, @John_Bowler. With the user interface similar to TuD, I’m sure the environment will feel familiar to those who have not participated there before.

For me, having the ability to make longer comments and posts is important. So much of our culture tends to be shorter and punchier. Yet I know that there’s a persistent subset of people who like online content that provides more detail.

I plan on migrating to FUD. I first joined TuDiabetes around 2012(?) when there were changes to the JDRF forums that felt wrong to me. What made the transition easier was that many other posters made the transition around the same time. If enough of us make the move, FUD will feel more like home. In some ways it will be a reunion as FUD was originally started by TUD members who were dissatisfied with moderation or some other issue back in the day.

Thanks for making your intentions known, @still_young_at_heart. I may be joining you over there. Anyone else decide about their online future?
