Itching on belly

my t1 daughter is on her 3rd yr of omnipod. The last 4 months her belly itches intensely. Just curious can u just be allergic to the adhesive of the pod on your belly but not any other part of your body. Any suggestions. Her belly seems to be itching even with the pod on her arm, so???? Call endo? try benadryll cream? i dunno.

Sorry to answer with a link but I'm in a hurry - http://www.ardensday.com/main/2011/11/28/omnipod-rash.html

Try this...

Is her skin dry? Caleb had a similar issue after using the Pod for years. His skin was dry. We started using Eucerin on his sites to keep his skin healthy and I was better at using Remove to take them off so they would come off smoothly. It resolved itself instantly.

I have the same problem. The itching could persists days after I make the switch. My doc prescribed some kind a cream. I apply when I remove the pod and it's helped a lot. Doesn't stop the itching completely, but enough to where it doesn't bother me enough to feel like I have to scratch the spot every ten minutes,

my daughter complains of itchiness on her belly more than her back, definitely!! she is 11, i think when its on the back or bottom it is easier for her to forget about, but it is more than just that. we did use nasonex and let it dry for her last pod change and so far so good for 48 hours no itching. also if we keep it dry, it itches less, it seems…

I stopped wearing the pod on my stomach and my back because the itchiness was so bad. I would scratch all around it and be tempted to change them out early, just to relieve the itching. I only wear them on my arms and on the side of my thighs, and have no itchiness there.

I'm getting a horrible rash from where the entire site is, which lasts for days. Will try it without the alcohol wipe. Worried that I might have to discontinue the Omnipod :(

Have any of you had scarring because of the inflammation?

hi annie! yes, i have some scarring from the rashes, so it can definitely happen. i've had to stop wearing the pod on my stomach at all because it's so allergic now. i only wear on my back and arms... strange how different body parts can have a different reaction.

i don't use alcohol wipes at all. i use unisolve adhesive remover to take them off and use bard adhesive wipes on the area where i will put a new one. that has helped a lot!

i hope you can work it out!

Thanks, Chandra! I'm compiling a list of things to try. If you don't use the remover, does that cause a problem in and of itself?

yes, i would say that the if you don't use the remover, there's a lot more pulling and trauma to the skin. if you do use the remover, it usually slips right off.

if you do use the bard wipes, you definitely want to use the remover because the wipe forms a thin layer of protection on your skin, so if you don't remove it, it just stays on there!

Awesome! Thanks so much, Chandra! :)

I love wearing the pod on my arms like on the front inner area. i can toss and turn while i sleep and it doesnt bother it......unfortunately i am no longer allowed to wear it there due to tissue build up or what ever. i am so sad....i hate wearing it on my stomach its so dang itchy!!!
